...looks like a rail bridge in Thelwall, but I have no idea of its name or date or name of the branch of railway it served
The Ship Canal it spans was built relatively late in the day but I still can't help any further than that !!  ::)

....a 'what and where' type of question - I expect

locality = no idea at all !!

what    = some sort of double boat-lock, wider on one side, but why ?

higher water on the right indicated by vee-ing of lock doors

any one else have thoughts ?   ???
