insurance cover is now running into millions, I think you got 'hit' more than us here in Sale, Arthur

I thought someone was in the porch !!
Overall it was quite mild here - I was awake, sitting on the edge of my bed at the computer - there isn't room for a chair in my room.  The room shook and the bed felt like one of those vibrating massage ones i've seen in films about dodgy las vegas honeymoon suites. I remeber thinking howlong the quake seemed to be going on and staring at the celiing wondering how long it would be before I saw cracks appearing in it... then it stopped.

Best reaction was from a friend who e-mailed another forum to say that her brother had run into her room screaming that his bed was possessed.

Having been  button-holed by my elderly doddery neighbour and earwax duly melted with "the end is nigh" type nonsense....'damage inspection' completed for pointless neighbourly property comparison purposes.....

100% intact property, no 'movement' of baubles or chattels....nowt.

One can only conclude that the terrified neighbour enduring the newly created crack in the kitchen wall is a victim of shoddy plastering work.  ::)

Hmmm...can't say I've heard of attention-seeking plasterers....they usually confine their 'attention-seeking' to little adverts in the Yellow Pages??

More likely the cheapskate neighbour accepted a shoddy 3mm plastering quote wheras I always insist on  'minor tremor proof' 7mm plastering quotes.   O0

Still awaiting the much-heralded 'aftershocks' which are a virtually certainty in the next 24 hours according to Prof Drone on Radio Five Dead.

really?
Hope my neighbour doesn't hear of the Yorkshire rumblings or it's "quake-nagging" time again!!

According to Prof Drone we're all supposed to be sat amidst a pile of rubble by now.

7mm plastering quotes every time.  O0

Indeed  O0 descended from a fine line of ancient English peasantry, peons and assorted bottom rung scavenging stock.

I note you are Italian Mr KZ?
A fine country...excellent scenery, cuisine and stylishly attired ladies.

Both England and Italia sadly delivering earthquakes of a feeble nature...the place to be is on the San Andreas fault.

California knows how to knock out a decent earthquake  O0

Doubtless Mt Etna could deliver a decent punch but volcanoes are a tad predictable...all that smoke and ash....tad grubby.

Yes I'm italian ;)  Also in Japan there are powerful and frequent earthquakes.. ;)

Fear of impending and rapid earthquakes in Japan might explain why they churn out washing-machine powered dross motorcycles.

Back to topic?

I find it odd that no other country has started an 'Earthquake Fund' for us poor Brits.

Look at the trouble and expense we've all gone to, to get our servants to pick up our garden furniture that has blown over.

And let us not forget a nation made virtually homeless by hair-line cracks in walls due to shoddy plasterers.

As an earthquake survivor, I too am appalled at the lack of international aid.
