Black Cabs in Manchester
« on: 20:08:34, 06/03/08 »
Four or five years ago undercover reporters and driving test examiners posed as paying customers to investigate the standard of cabbies driving.   In Manchester, they found black cab drivers broke the speed limit, accelerated aggressively up to junctions, ran red lights and slammed on the brakes. Have things improved since then? I have used similar cabs fairly often in Belfast and haven't noticed aggressive driving. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/3501395.stm

I rarely use blackcabs as my son says they are far more expensive than the taxi-cars, but I can quite believe it ::)

Like Private Hire Cabs you can negotiate a price with Public Hire Cab drivers prior to getting into the cab and going from A to B. I was ripped off by a Private Hire Cab some months ago .... £27 for a £20 journey. Now I ask how much they intend to charge before using their services.
