It is a fact that illegal/banned firearms are ridiculously easy to get hold of . . . in many urban, inner city areas its easier than buying sweets.Some teenage boys (and it is mainly boys) get a sense of virility and masculinity by brandishing these weapons in their neighbourhoods and in their schools. Its supported by the Hip Hop, gangsta and thug lifestyle promoted by what passes for artistry in our modern-day music industry.Throw in easy money from drugs and hey presto . . . you have the perfect mixture for destroyng communities and neighbourhoods.Whats the answer ? ?The US has tried the village_idiot approach . . . their prisons have developed into an industrial complex and their inner city areas are virtually no-go areas . . . Their much publicized "ZERO TOLERANCE" policy has had a limited impact in the overall level of crime and the existence of the death penalty in many US states has only exposed the inadequacies of their judicial system and society : most people on death row are poor and blackThere are many recorded cases of untrained/unqualified junior lawyers being provided by the state as attorneys that are incapable of mounting a defence for their clients.THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO GO. THIS IS BRITAIN - WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS.These kids lack a purpose in life - they need to be given clear goals in life . . . academic, sporting, community and art. We need to to invest in culture - museums, libraries, theatres and sport.This has got to be better than shooting them. Although, I must admit - shooting is actually too good for some people.
