I can think it might be a waste of time for people to enquire if they did not know what you were intending to rescue !!

...or is  this a secret ?  :)

CRB = Criminal Records Background ? but still not definitive enough to elucidate the voluntary work involved

a proper contact name would be helpful too 8)

RAB,

Thanks for the reply, true it was a bit vague here are the details:

We are looking to establish a Manchester Branch of UK ERT SAR,  focusing primarily on community based disaster preparedness and response, working closely with local emergency services and non governmental agencies.

ERT SAR responds nationally and internationally and is building a membership based all over the United Kingdom.

In the UK, ERT also have various ongoing training programmes which run all the time.  All fully operational members must complete these regular training sessions.

Sometimes, there are opportunities to cross train with other groups, such as the Fire service or an International Team.  We usually host these twice a year on biannual training exercises for 'participants' and 'observers'.  If you would like to take part and are part of the SAR Community / CCA Cat1 .  Responder - please get in touch to see when our next available dates are.

ERT also respond to calls from the emergency services to assist in whatever technical capacity is needed.

If you would like to visit the site of our parent team, please goto: www.ert-sar.org.uk.

CRB is very important as our members will be working closely with vulnerable adults and in some cases children.

If you are intrested or would like to know more or for an informal chat please do not hesitate to contact me directly,
