Hi I am moving to Manchester after just graduating from University in the USA to start my first job in the city.  I feel like I have only heard about all of the dangerous areas in Manchester that are filled with gang violence, muggings, shootings, etc.  Is everyone exaggerating or is it really that bad there?  Where should I live?  I have heard City Centre and Didsbury but I hear Didsbury even has a lot of gun and knife violence now.  I am moving to the city in 2 weeks but am honestly quite freaked out as I did not know that crime was such an issue in the city.  Someone tell me a safe area to get a place!

probably Altrincham, Hale, Bowdon, Sale, Timperley - I don't know much about other areas, we have the metro line (tram) which goes into Manchester

Altrincham-Navigation Road-Timperley-Brooklands-Sale-Dane Road-Stretford-Old Trafford-Trafford Bar-Cornbrook-G.Mex-St.Peter's Square(Manchester)-Mosley Street (Manchester)-Market Street(Manchester)-Shudehill(Manchester- Victoria Station (Manchester)

there have been a lot of stabbings lately, boy gangs

I don't think this would happen in Russia, they would stamp it out - good thing too
