Hi. When I left College in 1956 I worked for Granada TV (only just started transmitting) asbtrainee engineer. When "Corrie," started it was scheduled as a serties of SIX programmes only. This was black and white tv AND had to be done live from the studio because video tape machines were only just being invented.
I actually worked on three of the first programmes of the first six.
Outside broadcasts were all also live. We did live programmes from schools, hospitals, fire stations, life boat stations, and, celebrities homes. The most memorable to me was from the home of L S Lowry the artist. He was famous for his "matchstick men women in his paintings.
I am now 78, retired and live in Johannesburg South Africa, my home for almodt 40 years.
