Alphabetism

Do you know what is it?
Does it really exist?
Have you ever suffered from it?

okay :)

Imagine that we are classmates at school. Your family name is, I don't know, Armstrong :) Armstrong Celeste and I'm Zansenberg Sergei, okay? :)

Now, every day our teacher starts the lesson and open the special book (I've no idea how it's called) to check pupils and ask one of them to answer the hometask.
Firstly she sees you of course and then others lads and finally just two minutes before the and of the lesson she comes across my name and the ring bells and everything is over. I've been left unchecked again and again day by day.
Well, on our final school performanes (when school diplomas are being given out) all these things happen again. By the time it would have been my turn to get my diploma everybody had fallen asleep in audience :) Unlike when you were given it! Everybode greeted you and clapped and everything!

Did I make the idea clear?

yes I understand,  I wish that had happened as my maiden name began with a T and I could have passed unnoticed.

Also actors who choose a surname beginning with A nearly always get top billing!! ;)

  from Google:
All my life I have been subjected to a pernicious form of discrimination, which in this politically correct age of enlightenment should be eradicated by zealous HR professionals - alphabetism.

The discrimination manifests itself by my surname, which begins with the 20th letter of the alphabet. This means that when anything is distributed I am trailing behind around 80% of the population in order of receipt of whatever that something is.

This would be OK if good stuff and bad stuff were evenly distributed, but there are rules against bad stuff like redundancy being decided on this basis, so there is little in the way of compensation.

Besides, there is the mental anguish caused by others getting bad stuff ahead of me and knowing that it is heading my way.

Even death notices in newspapers are printed alphabetically, so I am resigned to dying at the bottom of the page too.

I have considered changing my name to Aaron Aabrams. I also have huge sympathy for my wife, who had a maiden name at the number two position until she married me.

Here are a couple of alternative suggestions that might help me and others like me. We could either distribute stuff on the basis of a random order, or rotatethe start point startingfrom A today, B tomorrow, and so on.

All the 'isms' - racism, sexism, ageism - are being eradicated in these PC times. Yet alphabetism disadvantages 50% of the population, and it is the same people - named after 'M' - who suffer.

Well, the problem seems to be solved by renaming all people :)

But what it will like if anyone has got a name initiated with A? :))

Who will be the last one in a list? :)))))

When I was at school we were given French names, as my surname began with a T my French name was Julie, there were four of us with the same Christian name, so our French names were not in the least like the usual equivalents.

With it being a French lesson, French teacher she wanted us all to have French names, they hardly bore any relation to our own names, for instance Eunice was give Catherine,  Susan was given Simone
