Halloween

!

A man was walking home alone late one foggy night,

when behind him he hears:

BUMP...

BUMP...

BUMP...

Walking faster, he looks back and through the fog he makes out the image of an upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street toward him.

BUMP...

BUMP...

BUMP...

Terrified, the man begins to run toward his home, the casket bouncing quickly behind him

FASTER...

FASTER...

BUMP...

BUMP...

BUMP...

He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams and locks the door behind him.

However, the casket crashes through his door, with the lid of the casket clapping

clappity-BUMP...

clappity-BUMP...

clappity-BUMP...

on his heels, the terrified man runs.

Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, the man locks himself in. His heart is pounding; his head is reeling; his breath is coming in sobbing gasps.

With a loud CRASH the casket breaks down the door.

Bumping and clapping toward him.

The man screams and reaches for something, anything,
but all he can find is a bottle of cough syrup!

Desperate, he throws the cough syrup at the casket...

and,

(hopefully you're ready for this!!!)

The coffin stops

A gem from the Internet Archive: The Haunting Hour. Spooky vintage radio plays from the 40s. Reminds me of the old Rathbone/Bruce Sherlock Holmes films, The House of Fear, The Scarlet Claw, The Pearl of Death and the like.

The first one is Murder Wears a Strange Mask - love the Hammer Horror organ music and the intro spiel:

Quote:
No! No, stay where you are! Do not break the stillness of this moment. For this is a time of mystery, a time when imagination is free and moves forward swiftly, silently... This is the Haunting Hour! http://otrcat.com/haunting-hour-p-1372.html

Just been reading a post elsewhere and one lady says she sees a skull when a death is imminent, and a black cloud if someone is going to die.

She was only four years old when she blurted out to a lady in the street that she was going to die, her and her mother walked on, and then heard a screech of brakes - she didn't know if she had so upset the woman to make her walk in front of a car but felt guilty even though she was only four, her mother wrapped her coat round her quickly and marched her on.

and another:

'I was told this story once and was told that it was a true story but dont know for sure if it is

this man went to have his fortune told and the lady could not tell him anything but he knew she had seen something and wanted to know, she said she didnt want to tell him but he wanted to hear what she had to say telling her that if he is going to die he wants to know

she told him that he was going to die very soon and that it would be a big lorry that killed him she even told him when he was going to die

he stocked his home up with everything he needed to eat ect and decided to stay in till after the time that she had told him there was no reason for him to leave the house and he thought i am going to change my destiny

he did die being hit by a large lorry it crashed into his home and if she had not told him he was going to die he may not have been in the house at the time the lorry hit as he was not usually in the house at that time.'
