Hidden Manchester Photography Project
« on: 22:21:43, 10/11/08 »
Hi,
I'm a Manchester based photographer and film maker,  I'm just spreading the word about a photo project I have been doing over the last few months,  looking at hidden Manchester,  from the Tunnels and Rivers under the city,  to the tower above,  I have put a gallery on my website which shows a very small selection of the pictures, and also some information about when the exhibition is on.  Gallery link here http://www.andrewbrooksphotography.com/view-main-gallery.php?id=31

From having a look around this forum I thought people might be interested in seeing this work,  any questions or feedback welcomed.

Many thanks

Andrew Brooks

Fantastic photograph Andrew, where was it taken from?

I have a well-known (around Manchester) female photographer who lives next door to me.

My son says it's taken from the Town Hall, but you have to have permission to go up to the top

It is from the very top of the town hall,  the tower on the left houses the bell which strikes the hour.

Glad you like the work.  I have much more from around Manchester on my website www.andrewbrooksphotography.com

Yes, brilliant - I have just looked, pity we didn't know about the exhibition I would have gone, and my son would have too.

Did you have to have permission to access the tunnels, I know the Mitre Hotel near the Cathedral has an access to them

We did get pretty good access,  the URBIS name opens a few hidden doors in Manchester.

The exhibition will be on for 3 months,  so plenty of time to catch it if you do find yourself in this area

I thought it ended 11.10.08

Is there another one, and what is your connection with Urbis? :)

No,  it opens at the start of December,  then runs for 3 months,  so loads of time to see it.

I have been commisioned by URBIS,  to create images for them using my style of photography,  which involves building the shots out of many many images.  All of these shots are from around 30 to 40 pictures, which gives me much control over what I show.
