Celeste,

Self help sites are much better than using a subscription site. We have a genealogy board on Belfast Forum.
A group of us who are on RootsChat.com which is a free site with over 30,000 members joined the Belfast
site as we live in Belfast and like local sites. There are several local sites in the north of Ireland.

There's a Family History Society in Manchester. It's the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society.
The Socirty's address is Clayton House, 59 Piccadilly, Manchester M1 2AQ. They have a Resource Centre and Genealogical Bookshop at that address.

There are six LDS Family History Centres in Lancashire.
The Manchester address is:

Altrincham Road
Wythenshawe
Manchester, Lancashire, England
Phone: 44-161-902-9279
Hours: M-W 9.30am-12.30pm, 12.45pm-3pm; T 7pm-9pm
Closed: Closed from 21 August; reopens 4 September 2006

There are several places with websites in Manchester and throughout
Lancashire
where people can search for information about ancestors.

Celeste, did you have any success at the LDS Family History Centre ??? I've just spotted a great site. Manchester City Council's Burial Records. This online service offers you the opportunity to search records of burials in Manchester dating back to 1837. Around 800,000 records are available relating to Manchester General, Gorton, Philips Park, Blackley and Southern cemeteries. The service is a quick and reliable way of researching family history and carrying out genealogy searches. It's free to search the site but if you require details of a person then you have to pay for the image of the burial register in credits ... four credits cost £12

Was that one line of the family on the one day, Celeste?

Do any members of your family come from Ireland?

Ancestry.com announced on the 9th of this month that it has added to its online service all readily available U.S. passenger lists from 1820 to 1960. Note that the following announcement states that, “To commemorate the launch of the collection, Ancestry.com is offering completely free access to its entire Immigration Collection through to the end of November.” Since all the data is indexed, I’d highly recommend that you search for your surnames and ancestors now while the price is “so right!” Keep in mind that just because they don’t show up in the index, doesn’t mean they aren’t in the lists - for a variety of reasons that genealogists understand
