I'm glad you did post, everywhere I have travelled the airports have been ok, but then there isn't the security fear that there is in UK airports.

Manchester Airport used to be great you could see out to the planes, but on Sunday everything was quite claustraphobic - couldn't get to the shops, knew they were just out of reach, same as the restaurant - nightmare for me :D

Yes it would be crowded, I used to go at lunchtimes and in the bar there was a very convivial atmosphere, I shall have to dig out my old identity pass,  I worked for three different airlines and also on the cargo side, airfreight agents.

Which is your nearest airport, i.e. which airport did you fly to Manchester from?

The layouts can be confusing, and adding more and more shops turns them into shopping malls, attracting people who just go to shop on top of the numbers of commuters who just want to get a few things, books, food, drink, etc for the journey - that adds to congestion and increases the security hazards.  Staff are often clueless when asked where anything is.

Didn't really go to shop just thought it would be quite nostalgic seeing the places where I used to go at lunchtime - and when a sausage roll and chocolate biscuit was lunch) there were never that many shops, chemist, WHS, hair salon,  but Hoopers of Wilmslow (used to be Finnegans I believe) had a large counter.

Noticed that the huge sculpture by Elizabeth Frink (was called the Albatross by some) which had pride of place in the old terminal in front of the runway, has been moved to an unobtrusive corner in one o f the passages.
