The Mr Men and Little Miss Team in Manchester
The BUPA Great Manchester Run is one of the world’s fastest growing running events and a premier British 10k.
The BUPA Great Manchester Run starts and finishes in the city centre. The first km of the route takes you past the G-Mex, the old Hacienda building and Deansgate Lock before joining up with the Chester Road and Bridgewater Way for the clear, fast run out to Trafford and the Quays with the sights of Old Trafford and the Imperial War Museum. It is then back up Chester Road to the finish on Deansgate.
The BUPA Great Manchester Run 2007 will be the race’s fifth consecutive year and there are plans to make the event better than ever. A great course, a large number of bands, a charity village as well as a range of other activities and entertainments across the City help make this a special day for runners and spectators alike.
For the BUPA Great Manchester Run, the CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA team is always easy to spot in our trademark Mr Happy and Mr Tickle running vests, only made possible by the generous support we received from Chorion Rights Limited. Our supporters are along the route to help cheer our team to the finish where a team of staff and volunteers are on hand to greet each and every runner, no matter how long it takes to complete the course! Each runner, their families and friends are also invited to joins us afterwards at a simple reception, held just yards from the finish in the Charity Village, to enjoy some refreshment and a chance to unwind and reflect on the day with fellow Mr Men and Little Miss team mates.
Every runner is a star in our eyes and deserving of our deepest gratitude. The motivation and determination required for preparation and training, with runners pounding the streets in often wet and cold conditions is awe-inspiring. Whilst completing 10k is a huge personal achievement, many runners also let us know that collecting sponsorship monies is almost more demanding. For this, we also like to thank and include runners’ families and friends whose kind sponsorship and encouragement is so important; this support and commitment is so deeply appreciated and vital in raising much needed funds for our fight against the biggest childhood cancer.
We are so grateful for the opportunity, so proud of all our runners and so thrilled with everything that is achieved through the BUPA Great Manchester Run.
