GOING OUT IN THE EVENING
« on: 13:00:59, 15/10/06 »
where do you go when you go out in the evening, as a midager i find tha t i like going for meals out, preferably al fresco and in a party,  the Cheshire pubs are my favourite at the moment and i had a nice meal on friday night, wasnt that expensive £40  for two inc. steak meals, chicken on a bed of rice  and  mushroom sauce, and strawberries and cream,  two hot bread rolls

with butter, and drinks (didnt take much notice of what the others had)

I knew you’d got money. Marry me! We could put our money together and have a right old lot of it. Forty quid? Just for two! Did you eat both alone, or did you entertain someone? I could have been tempted with a couple of Holland’s meat pies with peas, costing no more than a couple of quid. Or on second thoughts, steak pudding and chips.

Sounds ominous does FOUR. Prison governor, priest, hangman and two screws? I know it adds up to five, but you’re already four-fifths there so I reckon my time is limited.

I heard that! — as Jabberywocky would say.  Posted thread and waiting until tonight to find out what happens. Signing off now, mother-in-law needs a cuppa and I’m her carer! Got her a rhubarb pie from Tesco yesterday. They didn’t have any apple pies, which she likes, so I got her a rhubarb which she doesn’t like. BUT I DO!!!

I’m off to sit with her now. We spend some of Sunday together — she’s lived at my place since the wife died — watching telly and betting on which one of us gives up the ghost first. She’s 90 and I’m 77! My betting money’s on me!

Someone on SF says the water down the plug-hole is a load of Codswallop, so he’s obviously  never been to Oz. Another’s wondering about what would happen if you floated the plug-hole in a tank of water and moved it 5 degrees either way from the equator!

Got the following from GazE… “This is based on the myth that the coreolis effect is strong enough to cause the direction of spin to change. In actuality, for coriolis forces to have that strong of an effect, the water would have to be travelling down the drain at over 200 mph. It only really has an effect in weather systems where there are large amounts of water involved.

“Water goes down a drain based on the shape of the sink and the direction the water enters the drain, so at the equator or in the north or south, it still doesn't matter. It'll go the way it goes.”

I knew I’d catch an intellectual!
