Yes, and so too did Umberto, in a bungalow adjacent to the Hillock estate. Don’t know where either of them are now.

Did he? Good for him! I used to DJ for Hospital Radio Burnley. I was editor of the local newspaper and believed in getting involved with the local community. We had a regular Corrie actress doing her bit too; Julie Heckmondwyke.

Stannage was sacked (again)  from Key 103 after he was ratherabrasive with aw ar veteran, calling him stupid and cowardly for going to  war inthe first place - there were complaints and the station booted hiom out - Stannage is probably the bestof our shock-jocks, much betterthan James Whale, - I remember early Stannage on Piccadilly Radio when he would play clips from commediens like Mike Harding, Jasper Carrott, and Blilly Conolly, all of whowere unknown then, as were, and stillare  Bob Willioson and Shep Wooley who he also plugged. I used to stay up secretly till dawn listening to his show for the comedy stuff, and go to school very tired indeed.  www.arthurchappell.clara.net/contents12manchester.htm

Hi Toddy, I used to listen regularly to his show when he was on Piccadilly Radio, Key 103m and when he moved, but I'd heard he'd moved to London - can't actually recall hearing those names though.

hi celeste

those names are from the first time he was with them when it was still called piccadilly 261. this would be about 74-79

he left and returned years later to do the talk show.
jasper carrot featured it on one of his tv shows saying he was on the hard shoulder of the motorway listening to it.
