He should die behind bars - can prisoners who have been attacked whilst serving their sentence claim compensation?

not sure - he could certainly press charges - not sure about compensation - if there was any it should go to the survivors and families of his victims

Which would probably mean he wouldn't claim any

many years ago,my next door neighbour and myself used to go to the bier kellar at piccadilly. one night, we left to get a taxi, she needed the loo so went to the underground ones you mentioned at piccadilly, I also needed the loo, so when she came out i went to the gents, when i came out, a guy had approached her and said he would give her a cheap taxi home, 3 quid (it was about 6 quid to where we were going in them days,) when he saw me. he wasnt happy, he took us nearly home, we got him to drop us  early cos he was weird, next day they found a body at M.R.I. we seriously never put 2 and 2 together, we just assumed he was a bit of a wierdo, turned out the "taxi driver" was the yorkshire ripper
when his face was in the papers, that was when we realised, you don't think that it will happen to you, but it just might....

Did you report this incident?

Sadly not, like I said we just thought he was a bit weird and anybody walking through Manchester during the day, never mind the night will know that the city is full of weird, scary people and as we were both underage we left it, obviously after we heard about the body being discovered we reported it then, but obviously too late for that poor woman, however, he didn't have the geordie accent that the police were looking for at the time.

Just be chatting to a woman in work and she worked with Jean Jordan’s mother in law at the time of her murder.

Jean Jordan was only 20 years old the family must have been devastated, I hope they are over it now but I expect subsequent murders bring it back :(

I got in a taxi with one of my sons on Sunday and the driver had a book in the back of the cab called 'Serial Murders' I mentioned it to him as I thought another fare might pick it up.  He said his mother-on-law had given it him and he kept it in the cab for when the cab wasn't busy.  It reminded me of the taxi driver murders - which has just been on TV as a play.

the piccadily loos had a reputation for hookers and rent boys hence why sutcliffe may have gone there,

my stepdad was interviewed about the ripper cos he used a morris oxford or austin cambridge ( i cant remember which one he had at the time) and the colour and part of the plate matched, although he went to the belle vue beer keller

I've never used them, I prefer to go into McDonalds or Debenhams, Cafe Metro

Did your stepdad tell you what sort of tests the police used, there wasn't DNA testing then was there?

your right. The back of piccidilly gardens (behind sasha's, nobles etc etc) stinks but if you have to go spend a penny theres place you can go. Burger king you can use with out annoyance. debenhams and toilets in Afflecks inbetween the cafe and  the mens underwear store, Pants on the third floor. Each one is better then weeing in the streets me thinks.
Pants, 3rd floor, Afflecks, Manchester.

I dont think Manchesters too bad for loos - better than where I used to live! Theres two sets in the Arndale and loads of Costas about to nip into.

Where I was living before (Lincoln) there was one that I would use in a Waterstones store then another one when they built another Waterstones. There were public loos in the little shopping center but there were always a million people there and they stank!

The big Waterstones in Manchester has a loo but its hidden away down some hallway that looks like a staff area, I was desperate so I had to ask them where it was the first time.

Ya know the Costa on the corner by Picadilly? (Actually, I think its a bank on the corner, its next to Cafe Nero which is next to Primark) If you go right to the back of there theres loos on the right hand side before the kitchen  O0
