I would guess a lot of ex-pupils bear grudges, as do others who have been taught by nuns or priests, however to seek revenge I agree is very extreme

look, the first schooling i ever had was in a convent. i grew up watching nuns rap friends of mine over the knuckles and to be honest... i got hit a few times as well. to this day im scared of them. lol i keep thinking they all have rulers hidden in their habits... but would i attack one? heck no.

I remember Julie Walters saying she was given a very hard time by the nuns at the convent she went to in Birmingham :(

I can imagine. they scared me, lol and i dont scare easily at all. They only seemed to have one cure for unruly kids, and thats the ruler across the knuckles.  and they are strict like you have no idea. trust me. :D one wrong word leads to that ruler.

Iv had a good few on the hands and legs and even been thrown with black board dusters and knocked on the noggin with books in my time, my teachers classed me as a daydreamer cause my mind was always wondering off when i was supposed to be paying attention  :P our teachers were rather vicious back then, corporal punishment is now out of the window and demerits are given, not very effective as most dont even go to detention these days and schools kids are actually out of hand from what i can see, so is corporal punishment a good thing? i dont like the idea of my child been hit by someone else, id rather sort her out myself, its all about childrens rights these days and laws have changed a lot.

At my first school I can only recall boys getting the cane, sent out of the class was usual for girls which I always considered a break.

I don't agree with corporal punishment, but if I was a teacher and the class was disrupted I would send them to the headmaster who would contact their parents - one bad apple affects others.  Any aggressive parents would be met by the school caretaker and gardener who would escort them off the school.

Yeah boys got caned and girls got the ruler in our school, i also enjoyed being sent out of class to sit in the corridor instead of having to listen to the teacher ranting about everyone, thing is in our classes if one was disruptive everyone got punished for it because nobody ever would tell the teacher who caused what and why frustrating them more and hence everyone got a rap on the legs with a ruller in a line-up outside the classroom, i was actually a very shy, quite and well behaved student  ???

The only time I got c.p. was my own fault, I wanted to have a look in the Headmaster's study so I was naughty I got six of the best - on my hand - and didn't even feel it I was too busy looking round  ;D

Yes we had to make it fun or we'd be bored, I remember when I was about 14 having to recite some scripture in the headmistress's office, and some of my friends were outside the window (she had her back to it) trying to make me laugh, I didn't dare she was very religious and only took the scripture lessons, I felt quite sorry for her, a spinster dressed in tweeds, hair scraped back - I don't think they make them like that any more!

I had a rare case of a little old lady i worked with at the bank, her name was Kitty, she was all of 4.5 feet tall, grey bob hair and as sweet as sugar, she had never been married and she was still a virgin at 72 years old, she used to be our filing lady and she worked in that post for all her life apparently too, another weird fact was that she had her own coffin in her flat which she bought for one day when she passed on, now THAT is strange and probably the reason any prospective husband did not come back  ;D

hahahahahahahahahaha id even run at that thought. losh who keeps a coffin in their flat. deffs a few dark secrets there methinks.

All the teachers i had were married. but of them all, one stands out. We called him samurai. :D he was our geography teacher, and he was fun, but if you were told to be quiet, youd better be. he threw a duster at one of the boys at the back of our class one morning. it hit the board on the wall behind him, and the boy just stood up and threw it back at him. lol you could see that he wasnt happy abt that, samurai had a little vein at his temple that throbbed when he got upset. needless to say the boy was expelled or suspended, i cant remember, bit no one dared go against the word of samurai ever again.  ;D
