sorry christopher . . . was educated in Accrington - although, went to University in Manchester.

Education (at secondary level) in Manchester is patchy - the best are amongst the finest in the country, whereas, some of the worst schools are a national disgrace.

No wonder people fight to move into areas to secure a place for their children in some of the best academic institutions.

Ofcourse, it means that those who are financially mobile tend to do better because of it.

oh TELENY, going to upset you now. i was educated at a prep. school, then grammar school,  then finishing school  - would have gone to uni but my father was very money-minded at the time and wanted a contribution, to be fair  he saved it and paid for my "finishing" school

no matter, celeste - you appear to lack for nothing.  I'm sure what you had was probably a lot more intellectually robust than what goes on in classrooms up and down the country.

Between us, we're probably generating enough energy to light a small village!

One hardly likes to intrude on such a cosy interlude :P.......but I went to primary school in Manchester and when we moved away I was streets ahead of the others at my new school - education wise. Sadly my peak was when I passed my 11+....downhill all the way from there on! ??? ;D

I  always wanted to bring up my two boys in somewhere like Devon, after school, after tea, take them to the beach,  just the ticket

Yes...my school days were a bit like that...followed by equally depressing 'work days'!! :(
Anyone got next week's winning lottery numbers????
Celeste..it's a nice dream about taking the kids to the beach after tea....never happened very often.
You could always go to Southport. We used to go there a lot  on day trips...looking for the sea. ;)

I have just come back from the beach
I finished work at 2 pm today picked up the wife and we were sitting on the beach 25 mins later
I couldnt do it all the time as i would get bored with it
I hate it when the deep blue sea calls you to it and you have to swim in it for 30 mins just to get some salt water in ya system
I hate it when ya gets out of the deep blue ocean and you have got sand between the cheeks of ya ass
I hate it when ya have to go home when its 5 hrs before ya have to be back at work i hate it
WHY THE HELL CANT I LIVE THERE 24/7
Good health to yas all
