I posted the link purely to show they were still trading in 2010.
According to google maps, Salmon Street is located in the Shudehill area and although I'm not familiar with the premises it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Re your last point - no I haven't been to that part of the world - I think Altrincham is about the closest I've ever been.

theres a ginnel at the back of my house people down here though do know what a ginnel is so the nothern vocab has spread

My mother always used the word ginnel, there used to be an antique shop - a huge basement called Ginnel Gallery, word was it used to be where the Oasis club was - Lloyd Street

I was told it came from the French "chanel" and spread northwards. Maybe we just liked it better up North, while the Southerners moved onto the next wave of fashionable vocab!!

I still use a lot of manc vocab so when I say I live near the ginnel they all know what I am talking about.
