Belle Vue Zoological Gardens
« on: 02:31:03, 28/10/06 »
Bellvue Zoological Gardens  were founded by Cheshire entrepreneur John Jennison and opened in May 1837, when the attractions included a large number of birds and animals. Initially the zoo had domestic animals ... rabbits, goats, dogs and a fox. Ten years later visitors came to see the wild animals.

Almost wrong again Christopher. It was founded certainly by John Jennison who bought a tea-house on the site and added gardens. The animals came later. There used to be a Jennison Street named in remembrance of him. It’s gone now but there’s I think, a Jennison Avenue or something of that ilk. I’d have to look it up but I’m supposed to be busy.

So the articles, which I assume are written by Manchester people, are not correct ... is that what you mean Peter? I'm glad I've Lancashire blood running through my veins. Take these little errors up with the people who wrote the original articles. Could you also give your source when correcting the source I'm quoting.
