Masked men raid Timperley newsagents on Riddings Road10:37am Friday 27th August 2010A TIMPERLEY shop worker was hit on the head with a metal bar after two masked men raided a newsagents.
Two masked men armed with a handgun and a metal bar burst into Riddings News on Riddings Road just before 9.50pm on SUnday August 22.
One of the men pointed the gun at the counter and demanded cash from the shop worker while the other walked around the shop and found another member of staff, who he hit on the head with the metal bar.
As their victims lay on the floor, the robbers stole cash and cigarettes and tried to damage the CCTV cameras with the metal bar before leaving on foot towards Park Road.
The man with the gun is described as white, about 6ft 2in tall, of medium build, in his mid 20s. He was wearing dark clothing, a hooded top and had his face covered with a scarf.
The second man, whose ethnicity is not clear, is 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and in his mid 20s. He was also wearing dark clothing and a hat, and had his face covered by a scarf.
The victim hit on the head with the metal bar went to hospital but has since been released.
Detective Constable Jack Chadwick said: "The injuries to the victim could have been more serious given the recklessness of the offenders.
"We would urge any witnesses who may have been walking past the newsagent to call us if they saw anything that could help this investigation."
