Tottington (just outside Bury)  :)  - I have joined a gym too... really enjoying it.  Workouts during the week and then relaxing jacuzzi's at weekend - and the showers are fantastic!

That's what I'm looking for, though I want a pay as I go place - maybe I should get the Metro tram to Bury, they may have a branch nearer to me - Saturday afternoons would suit me

Hope it goes well for you - maybe losing 20 lbs would help me O0 ;)

Warning - it seems some fish and chips shops are selling CATFISH - one person has had an allergic re-action to it (Weekly News) and nearly died - Do make sure they do not serve you this kind of fish, I know two people who were sick after eating it.

Thanks Celestefriv2!  Moved back over this side of the Pennines now
If you can get out to Prestwich, Anderton's chippy8 is really good - specialise in Jumbo Cod friv... and they are HUGE!

Hi and welcome to the forum, I have been to Prestwich - mainly in the 1990s, and Crumpsall - used to go to the Grapes Inn for lunch run by Jenny Frost's grandfather, and also the De Vere Hotel which was very nice.

Chip shops well away from the 'Posher', trendy areas always better.

I live in Liverpool and the best ones where always in areas like Vauxhall. I think it may be because they are more popular in these areas. Is this because people living in 'Posh' areas just eat salad?!

Maybe so...

For the best fry-ups in Liverpool, the cafes down the 'Dock road' are the best... Is this because truck drivers and dockers just eat eggs, bacon and black pudding?

Mmmmm.

Don't you believe it - posh people - to use a Mancunian expression - are 'mad for it'

The battered Cod! i'm biased though since i used to work in a few of them lol but it really is good! they use a special oil so it's not as unhealthy too. there's a few of them though and they're not all the same. the one in northern moor/wythenshawe is better for burgers and kebabs (best i've ever had) but the one in fallowfield is the best out the lot for fish ad chips.

Welcome to the forum, now is there another 'Battered Cod' anywhere else, I'm sure I've seen one in Alty. or Sale?

cheers celeste,
yeah there's one in sale, northenden, northern moor, fallowfield, withington and soon one off oxford rd. there might be one in alty but the owner, for some reason, let people use the name when they have nothing to do with the chain so the alty shop might be one of those.
