The best and worst of Manchester
« on: 01:32:19, 19/12/06 »
What are the best things you like about going out in Manchester?  Also, where would you choose to eat your belly button fluff before going there ever again?

I know it's a bit of a broad question but it would be good to see people's responses, i.e best restaurants, clubs etc.

My fave restaurants at the minute is one called Choice in Castlefield (www.choicebarandrestaurant.co.uk) and a chinese called East (http://www.theeastrestaurant.co.uk) .  We go there loads because we get loads of money off because the hubby has got a city card.

By the way, these are great, you get loads of good deals at some great  restaurants and bars + at good salons, shops, entertainment places and all sorts of city stuff so you should get one (www.citycardmanchester.co.uk)

Best Bar at the minute is probably odd bar in Northern Quarter (can't find a website) or also Prohibition (http://www.prohibition.uk.com/).  Warning though, prohibition is not somewhere to take your man if you get jellous easilly.  It's almost like the lynxs effect advert, so I normally head there for girly nights as the guys tend to leave us alone- preferring the Cheshire set blondes ;)

Apart from the obious ones, the worst bar I've been to recently is probably The Cocoa Rooms- Gangstaville!  Also think the Hilton bar is pretty poor.  Dont get me wrong the views are great, it just seems a little lifeless and a lot pricey!

Most disapointing thing about going out in Manchester is probably Deansgate Locks, it seems to have gone into freefall this last year or so.  Sugar (http://sugarloungebar.co.uk/) used to be the place but now seems full of kids.  Loaf seems ok still (www.loaf-manchester.co.uk)

A few other things that are also great

GL14 Gym
the coffee at Pret a manger
the soups at 'Shlurp' (near the post office down off Albert Square)
Sandwiches at Philpots
Manchester United
Lunchtime meal deal at Try Thai restaurant

Not been 'clubbing' for a while, anybody recom' some good R&b / soul nights

Arrgh, (sigh), glad I got those off my chest.  What are your fave things to see and do in Manchester?  Answers on a postcard

If you remember Manchester as you mention it, you don't have to worry, nothing much has changed.

Oh, actually you may not be able to spot the Letter box Head from 100 yards in the trafford centre as there will be too many turbans in the way.

LOL
