Has it lost it's heart?



Perhaps not. I spent many happy times there at my aunts and uncles in the 1950s. They lived near Crumpsall Park.

Well there certainly have been a few changes since my childhood here.  There used to be a Nat West Bank on the right of the photograph - on the corner of Delaunays Road / Crumpsall Lane.  I lived in Moss Bank until we moved away when I was about 7 years old and still remember some of the old shops on Lansdowne Road (although not all by name).  I used to attend the old Cravenwood Road junior school but this has long gone, however I think a new one was built on the same site.

Looking for fresh places to shop I used to go on the tram to Crumpsall, bit of a walk to the mall there but found some nice shops - I used to go to Prestwich as well and take a taxi to the De Vere hotel for lunch often sitting outside and watching the golfers - there was a TV indoors too
 
Then there was the San Rocco restaurant on the main road, I think there was another in Manchester city centre

My godparents used to live on Crumpsall Lane until around the mid-1970's, and as a young kid, it always appeared to be a very elegant road at the time.  There used to be some lovely shops on the junction with Lansdowne Road, and also on Lansdowne Road itself.  I still have memories of popping into the newsagents/sweet shop and buying small bars of chocolate for 2p.

had to go in crumpsall dental hospital cos some fruitloop of a dentist didn't seal my gums when he made my crowns. loveley loveley houses round there, my husband delivered too pharmacies in one of his many jobs to keep us all solvent bless him

Can I ask are you Crumpsall born , I was I attended Cravenwood and lived amongst my friends neighbors and familiar faces but when me  the same?and a few mates visited it has changed beyond belief , do you think
