Top of the mornin' all.

I'm too far away, of course, but it all sounds magnificent.  I've asked the festival folks to kindly consider giving my book a plug on their website, but I know they'll be up to their ears in the festival right now, so maybe I left it too late. I would love to be there tho. What fun.

If anyone likes Irish food, I can heartily recommend the hairy bikers' recipe for Colcannon (via BBC food website).  It's even better than me ma used to make.

Hi Celeste, well only the Paul Rankin sliced one in Waitrose from time to time.  I should make my own really, as i taste's great.  And Irish scones are made with buttermilk, which gives them a   wonderful flavour and consistency.

As for Soda bread ...yum and yum ..
The best is Dillisk pronounced Gillisk  in Mayo (seaweed) i love it with hot water and butter or fried with bacon ....

Some folks call it dulse.  Soooo good for you, too.  My hubby has a lovely Irish recipe for fresh salmon served with a mushroom, whisky, lemon &  cream sauce.   :P

I'm also smiling because I seem to have cracked the Irish market for my book today also.  It has just appeared for sale with Eason's, Ireland's largest bookchain.  Hurrah!  A great week for the Irish, well for one Irishwoman at least!   ;D

Thanks ladies.  Already up and running in US, via Amazon.com, plus the maritime museum at San Diego, California is selling copies.

Many thanks Dorothy.  It was always my dream to write a book.  When I was 9, I used to sit at the kitchen table with an old stub of a pencil and torn up sheets of wallpaper lining paper, and scribble stories.  I recall getting my dad to sharpen the pencil stub with his penknife every now and again, and he would say 'I'll have a read of yer book when yer done, pet.'  To this day, I still do my initial notes in pencil, but these days I have good quality pencils and real notebooks.  How I wish dad was hear to read my book about his grandad.  He'd be amazed.   :)
