Doubtless everyone cooks their bacon spuds & cabbage differently.  My favourite method is to boil the bacon or gammon joint in a big stock pot (having soaked if for as long as poss beforehand to soak out the salt) for half the recommended cooking time.  Then remove the bacon, take off the rind, leaving a thin layer of the fat in place.  Put it on a big sheet of tin foil, fat side up, and pour treacle over it.  Wrap and put on a roasting tin in a hot oven for the rest of the cooking time.  Meantime, cook your big floury spuds (I leave the skins on) and your quartered cabbage in the same pan/water you boiled the bacon it.

When it's all ready, the foil will be full of lovely dark sauce to pour over thickly sliced ham (and your oven will still be clean).  Add copious amounts of  butter for the cabbage and spuds to soak up.   O0

The best in life I, missed, she Geraldine of the Irish clan, I was not good enough to marry her, and her mother hated anyone in the army. all because did not want a job laabouring for the rest of my life....Hey I met some fine people, some whom died defusing bombs outside hospitals. I remember walking away from Berberris Street feeling mashed.

But if they had teachers that could recognise pupils or conditions I would never have been here.
