Hi all,
Thanks for sharing these memories which sound very familiar.  I was born in Dover Street in 1955 and lived there until the house was earmarked for demolition in 1966.  Our house was next to the Holy Name primary school so I didn't have to go out the front door to get to school.  I could drop over the garden wall into the playground - which we used for footie and other games at the weekend.

Hi Maggi
I cannot remember Lloyd street.  You may have come across one of my siblings.  I am the youngest of five Quinn children - Maureen, Mal (Malachi), John and Patrick.

I was born in 1952?
Do you remember where the Dental Hospital was/is?  That I think is Cambridge St.
if you then went towards Denmark Rd, that would be Lloyd St, any help?
My brother was born on 1949?

Hi Margaret,
Well I never!  Do pass on my regards to Joe - I hope he is well.  I haven't lived in Manchester since my late teens apart from to visit family so our paths haven't crossed.
I came across this website by accident today as my son will be starting post-grad studies at Manchester Uni in September and will be looking at rooms in the Whitworth Park area later this week.

Hi Jean

I must have gone to School with your John,
I was born November 1952
Can't remember the name though?

You know ....you must have been reading my mind......
I got a new toothpaste, Colgate, it's a grey colour, and powdery,
And I was thinking it was like the tin we used to get, and couldn't remember the name!?
Spooky!

How are the family?
X

Did he go to Burlington Street School?

Hope you're all ok?

Glad I made you laugh about the toothpaste, honestly, it's just like it,
It's dark blue/grey and like sand!

Hi I lived on Cecil Street. It ran parallel to Lloyd Street. I went to the Holy Name on Burlington Street from 1960 to 1966. My surname was Kilduff then. First name is Marion.

Hi Marion, you would have been at Burlington Street the same time as me but I would be 'upstairs' when you were 'downstairs'.  My earlier years were spent at Dover Street.  Left Burlington Street in 1963 to go to the brand new girls' school St Ignatius and our first few years were spent in an old, old school in Bangor Street whilst they built our new school next door to the boys' school.  They have demolished our 'new' school and built a new one in front of it for Trinity.
