Yes...it just goes to show that you do not need to throw pots of money at a thing in order to improve it .

Just watched Usain Bolt win the 200 metres, he made it look so easy and is still enjoying the aclaim
of the crowd - his fans come first and he has even taken pictures of the crowd with someone's movie camera  ;D

Did you think he was running flat out?  I know it was fast, but he didn't seem too focused to me.....  First ever boxing gold, Dressage gold and bronze, all kinds of people making finals against the odds, men's 4x400 relay team definitely in with a shout.....  Lovely stuff.  I enjoyed Lawrence Clarke coming 4th in the 110m hurdles last night too - that was brilliant.  I'll be a bit  :( when it's all over next week....

It was said he was keeping an eye on the time but I don't think he was going for a record.  Yes, a lot of people will have withdrawl symptoms after Sunday

Afterwards, he said he was running with a slight back problem, which explains it.  I don't think I have ever seen him run flat out from gun to tape.  Makes you wonder what he could do.....  :o

Three gold medals yesterday, and I think my vote for Sports Personality goes to the lady boxer from Leeds.  First ever Olympic Champion, waited until she was 29 for it, worked her backside off, smiled all the way through, so proud to do it for GB - she's just bl**dy lovely!   Course, we have days to go yet, so I may change my mind......again!  ;D

The lovely Nicola Adams, I saw her interviewed before and after the boxing match, so pleased she is a gold medal winner at last :)

Oh dear, dear, dear.   The TaeKwanDo row is about to kick off again (no pun intended!).  The selected Lutalo Muhammad has lost to a bloke that the unselected Aaron Cook has beaten on several occasions.  I can see why the sport's governing body wanted an athlete who worked within their training procedures, as opposed to doing his own thing and succeeding, but why on earth didn't they settle the argument by sticking the two of them in the ring and letting the winner go to the Games?  It's open, it's fair and it's an end to it.  Now everyone's the loser.   :-\

BMX bloke crashes out; BMX girl trails in 6th; sailors get silvers instead of golds....... a day for "aaaaaargh, nearly" moments.... hope the athletics offers something better now!  O0

For me the 'hero's' are the triathalics, they must have some stamima. I belive alistar Brownlows time for the 10000 run was only 3 min longer than Mo Farha, and that was after a groowling swim and cycle!

THERE ARE TIMES, NEAR DUSK, WHEN I LOOK OVER THE COMENTATORS SHOULDERS [IN THEIR BOX] AT THE PANORAMIC SCENE THROUGH THE WINDOW, DARK STICK FIGURES IN CROWDS, AND IN THE BACKGROUND    TALL DARK CHIMNEYLIKR STRUCTURES.     AND I SEE A LOWREY.

Canoeing gold!  Then bronze.  How splendid is that?  I don't think Ed (McKeever is it?) had quite realised he'd won when he was on the telly.  Cheered me up no end after last night, which got worse, with Tom Daley landing a dive as if he'd thrown a small elephant into the pool, open water swimmer 5th, the pole vaulter getting agonisingly close to something special but ending 5th, the discus girl coming last, the 1500m girls miles off the pace..... dq in the 4x100m, 4th in the 4x400m.... all our athletes are doing amazing things, don't get me wrong, can't fault the efforts or the personal bests, but yesterday was just one near miss after another - I was driven to eating jelly babies!

Three boxers, Tom Daley and Mo Farah.  We know the boxers get at least silver, so that'll be at least 62 medals, but wouldn't it be great to end with a gold or two more?
