Favourite place in Manchester City Centre
« on: 15:14:44, 12/06/12 »
I used to love sitting in St Peters Square at lunch time (when I was working :) )  but they've messed it all up haven't they, and they're going to take forever.
Have you got a favourite spot in the city centre?

The library, Waterstones' cafe, Affleck's Palace (though havn't been for a while) used to like walking through Piccadilly Gardens when there were flowers

You're right Celeste, Piccadilly Gardens used to be beautiful when I was younger, what's there now? Nothing but a complete and utter mess!!

Couldn't agree more Pete, It's a right mess now. The gardens were lovely in summer.
What they should do is create a big open square. and knock that horrible wall down.

I wish someone from Manchester City Council read the forum, considering how much the guy who designed the new 'gardens' was paid he should be made to sit in front of that wall for a whole week - if they cared about how it looks they could at least grow variegated ivy up it to hide it - it's one of the first things visitors see when they come into Manchester from Piccadilly station ::)

I'm sure our councillers are awear of what people think of the mess, but it's  a case of what they want, not what we want! :(

perhaps they could put back into picc. gardens the huge water tanks[for fire fighting in 40,s] swimming would be good, or feeding ducks, either would be an improvement. ha.ha.

MY FAVORITE PLACE, USED TO BE A LITTLE CAFE JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM AFRICA HOUSE ONWHITWORTH ST.[ COULD HAVE BEEN ASIA]WHERE MY GIRL WORKED.  WE GOT TOGETHER FOR LUNCH, I WOULD SIT AND ASK FOR A PLATE OF JUST CARROTS,  [STILL HUNG OVER]THE STAFF MUST HAVE THOUGHT IT  VERY FUNNY.
