the north - south divide on public transport - very hard to get late night buses to north manchester especially at weekends - south manchester has a good night bus service - also the switch between first manchester and stagecoach once you hit the city centre

I don't think there's enough time in ones life to write the list,
But here goes

1, didsbury over priced housing stock
2, the regionalism  snobbery of mancunions
3, the influx of economical settlers and the burden upon the existing services health education
4, stagecoach monopoly on the transport system
5, the lack of investment in the city
6, the redevelopment of east land into a sporting hub
7, council tax rates and the wastage by the council
8, the people trapped in poverty
9, the education system , the best grammar school in the uk and by far some of the worst state schools
10, northwest water making a profit from a company that our grandparents built for there future generations

My first afternoon on this recently discovered, thoroughly enjoyable and informative forum and Corrupt council is annoying me already.

Two questions for you.... Do you live here ?..... and if so why given that you seem to hate the place soooo much ?

Am I too new on here, that I might I suggest you do us a favour move to Stoke or Middlesbrough ?

I don't hate anything about my city, but I do wish we could rid it of cynics.

I've lived, worked and socialised here since the mid 80's and to be honest the improvements I've witnessed have been quite staggering. Not that there are still things that couldn't be improved.

The worst thing I've seen happen was the privatisation of the local public transport system. Something that was forced on us by central govt. and as such we had no choice but to accept.

The question was what do you hate about manchester.
If it had been what do I like then the answer would have been longer.

If you don't like what I say I'm not to going to lose sleep over it kipax.

Answer to the questions you raised is yes I do and I think you will find tht my hates are reasonable , people trapped in poverty for example ,do you find that is something that can be liked?

You actually agree one with one of my hates in the transport system!

I hope I annoy you more with my hates and I hope I'm on your list.

Until then kipax try not to be a crashing bore.

Regards from the corrupt

The proliferation of belway boxes springing up everywhere. We have some fantastic new architecture in the city and some suburbs but these uninspiring developments, built to a design obviously pulled out of a draw and repeated all over the region annoys me greatly. Yes they maybe warm, clean homes but surely there is more to housing than that?

I agree with the professional Manc thing too.. Oasis, Wilson (when he was alive) and increasingly Peter hook amongst others. Fakes the lot if them and having met all of the above I speak from first hand experience.

Oh and the way MCC have pandered to every whim and fashion regarding their management of the city centre. I talk to more and more mancunians who feel the city centre no longer feels relevant to them. They talk of too many upmarket shops, a lack of independent traders and a general feeling that the gentrification of the city centre is irrelevant to them.

Primark, debenhms and arndale up market?
Not to mention affleks palace.
If you want it to look down market go to stockport town center, there's a pastie shop on every corner, usually next to a pound shop. There next door to a closed down retail unit.

As for the housing situation I agree the tiny boxes are being sold at top notch pices, but that's happening in lots of areas overpricing in the housing market.

As for the professional mancs , I'm not sure you cold class the gallghers in that as they moved out years ago from Burnage , they only come up here to be on sky sports when city are playing.

Wilson long time dead and was the man who helped put manchester on the musical map and was a legend. Don't think he will be troubling anyone.

It's been many years since I was last in Stockport town centre (in the early 90's sometime), and even back then it looked run down somehow.  I don't know if it's got any better or worse over recent years.

Well, I'm quite partial to a Cornish pasty whenever I'm down in that part of the world.  I'm not sure how Stockport pasties would compare however.  ;D

If bought in the new walk in greggs it will take the roof of your mouth off. :o
They seem to think that a temperature of 300 degrees is the acceptable level to serve a pastie.
So if you have an asbestos lined mouth you will be fine... :P

Carry on "Corrupt Council"; I also enjoy your posts.

I honestly dont think crime is that bad , the only difference these days the that every crime is reported , with 24 hour news .
The thing i hate about Manchester and the UK as a whole it the litter bugs that throw there rubbish in the streets .
