For those of us who don't know, what exactly is a Secular Humanist, Arthur? :)

An atheist or agnostic - Secular is anything non-religious, so maths and english are not religious subjects while Religious Instruction obviously is - a secular life is one lived without religion at all - Humanist - someone who puts people before gods - the Rennaisance artists were called Humanists becausethey dealt heavily with people imagery rather than angels, god, Biblical scenes, etc - humanity was suddenly more important than beliefs - the study of philosophy and literature type subjects is still called The Humanities - the old universities were divided into two schools - the Humanities andthe Divinities though there was often some overlap

Thanks Arthur, interesting.
Maybe some people are a bit of both, I would think truly good people can live humanitarian lives which take the good from religion
