If you could demolish just one building in Mcr what would it be?

I'd demolish the Beetham Tower..the ugliest eyesore blighting the landscape of the city. I'm sick of the sight of the monstrosity. Bye bye Beetham  O0

Does that wall count as a building, I'd do that tomorrow if I could

I was just about to say we should all agree on the wall in Piccadilly, before Celeste gets all shouty again......  Too late, but that's definitely the one, Wytchy!!
It's nice to be important, but it's also important to be nice.

I read in tonight's MEN that they are going to demolish Mayfield station, which as been unused for over 30 years, and is now delapidated.

Love the Beetham Tower!
I'd drop the Piccadilly hotel - straight onto the Piccadilly wall.

I would go for demolishing all the concrete around Piccadily Gardens. Flatten the whole area and sow some grass plant a few trees put some bushes and hardy annuals in. Then give an ice cream vendor a licence to sell ice cream what a wonderful place it would be. Might be nice to sit a while and ponder but as it is now best to keep moving.

Just realised with the noisey amplified buskers at Arndale and orrible concrete gardens I dont go to Manchester much now and I used to love the place. It sort of feels hostile now. Never believed I would say that. Sorry Manchester you are going down the pan.

I think Manchester is better than it has ever been - with the exception of the Piccadilly area.
The Corpy should own up and admit the redevelopment of the area was a disaster and start again. Most visitors arriving by train come into Piccadilly station and walk down into one of the few open 'piazzas' in the city to find a run down square which is frankly intimidating, brutalist architecture worthy of Stalinist Russia and a death trap of buses, taxis, trams and cars.

Seems to me there was a time when builders, architects, planners etc, had some self-control and knocked up an eyesore every decade or so. They also had some respect for the public by realising that too much was considered pushing their luck. Things though have been getting well out of hand past few years, and the dopey Council are addicted to greenlighting total shockers being knocked up. The clown who designed the Beetham Tower just been given the the greenlight to knock up another mofo ugly tower.  :o

Seems the Library Walk twixt Central Library and Town Hall extension doomed to be covered up in glass and steel.
And as for Piccadilly gardens and that wall....what were they smoking when they thought of that?  ::)

The library is my favourite building in Manchester I just hope they don't make the passage look like a bus shelter

Aye, same here, one of the most iconic buildings in Mcr. Outrage they've even thought about doing it in the first place. Been reading the lame excuses given for trashing Library Walk  ::)  laughable.
