Something that really annoys me is manchester dreadful schools and we have some real shockers.
The head teachers who are running these schools should be removed.
They should be struck off from teaching.

The results are in and manchester is AGAIN. Below national average.

This needs to stop a full review needs to take  place to understand why this continues to happen ,no significant progress is being made for the children of manchester.

The schools are letting manchester down badly churning out children who's life chances are significantly reduced by the poor teaching , poor standards and poor parents.

To see just how far the manchester region is look to the bottom of the table on the link

The effect this has on manchester is
1 house prices drop in catchment areas with poor schools
2 ill educated workforce
3 children's life chances reduced
4 house prices go up in catchment areas with good schools creating wealth ghettos

I blame the parents...and the teachers...and successive Education Ministers...trendy socialists...and America.  Bring back Latin and the cane (the two generally went together.)

CC  Cant you see Mack was joking , all tho America has a lot to be blamed for but not our schools as yet.

New girl start last term at Melville High, her Dad
had come to teach at Varsity.

She wanted to know why there was,nt any fencing
round the School and why no guards, why no guns
why every one could roam at will.  Was flabbergasted when told how things worked  here..
Seems quite happy with the situation now......

Thanks Sheila, but I actually wasn't joking about America.  It's an attitude, a pervasive waft of smugness, an unearned sense of entitlement, stupidity and shallowness that's crossed the Atlantic, along with fast food that kills, crappy modern "blockbusters", sentimentality, and self-help books.  God, I hate that country.

You're right, we can't; the Swiss have a lot to answer for, too. Bloody gnomes.

Did you know some High School children thought
that Milk came from the Market, did,nt associate
it with cows.   A couple o years ago I had a parcel
"sent" to me, I say that cagely, the Post Office or
what ever they call it did,nt know New Zealand exsisted,  asked my frien what state in USA it was in.
Now this is no lie, I emailed the Dep.Mayor of Sanford and told her this, got a reply saying they dont teach about small foreign countries.it was,nt
a useful subject...ha ha

How this topic went into Americana I will never know.
But the question remains what can be done to get manchester schools performing better?

Who's fault is it that they are not in the top of the league tables ?

It's a major factor in attracting skilled labour to the city if the schools are of a low standered  all we will attract is low skilled labour.

Is it the parents fault , multiculturalism, teachers or the pc brigade?

The one I don't blame is the kids .
No matter what sort of upbringing they have they will allways respond to opertunity.

Utter inertia seems to be set in with the schools in manchester , no improvements for years.

Compare them with stockports schools ,why is there such a big gap between them.

I think some of the policy's stockport education took in the 80s has paid off well.

No same sex schools kept rise of segregation  along the lines of religion and race out.
