24-hour drinking comes to Manchester
« on: 00:08:28, 25/10/05 »
http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/entertainment/clubs/s/176/176986_24hour_cornerhouse_people.html

"The party city of Manchester has granted its first 24-hour drinking licence - to an arty cinema. Bosses at the Cornerhouse on Oxford Road will be able to serve alcohol round the clock when boozing laws are overhauled in November."

Is this a good idea?

Inevitable progression.

There was a time when pubs never opened on a Sunday, before they were allowed to open.  They were still closed during afternoons, but that changed as well.

No doubt the prices will go up to pay for the extra staff working hours.

24-hour drinking news, discussion, and database of opening hours etc: http://www.24hrdrinking.com

Keep your eyes on this site, it looks like it's going to be a useful resource once the new laws come into force.

What the heck's the point banning one drug ... tobacco .. if a drug which damages society to a much greater extent.. alcohol ... can be consumed in pubs around the clock. BTW Ciggies are going to be banned but what about the chewing tobacco? Will sawdust be put back on the floors of pubs so that those who chew tobacco can have a good spit now and again?
