They call him the Belfast Boy.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds, and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." - George Best.

He had a photo taken of himself in hospital in a bad way with tubes coming out him etc, allegedly as a warning to others of the demon drink. Will it work?

A sad sight nowadays, but nobody can take away the memories of Bestie in his prime years.

Read 198 times — without reply. So much for ‘no one can take away the memories’! I think that football fans apart, most people who tend to look at him as an alcoholic who wasted a precious donor organ.

The George Best Foundation has been set up to provide charitable funds for research into liver disease and alcoholism as well as supporting the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among young people through participation
in soccer.

A George Best Memorial Trust is being launched next month to raise funds for a lasting memorial to George Best in Belfast City centre.

The Belfast city airport is titled Geog. Best.  Is that the reason?

I am from Belfast as well
