Billy Smyth, a guy from Northern Ireland who is now living in Manchester, has for a long time had an ambition to run a Motorcycle Race team. He contacted some friends who were in a similar frame of mind and last year they purchased a bike from Hawk Kawasaki. They had hoped to have the bike entered at the Scarborough Gold Cup meeting but unfortunately that did not happen. Dwyer Agnew rode the bike for the team at the Stars of Darley meeting. On the Sunday of that meeting, Dwyer on the Super Stock bike, was lapping three seconds slower than the eventual winner riding a full blown Superbike.
A Bike Night was held at St Mark's Band Club in Dukinfield on 12th October last year when Hawk Kawasaki attended the launch of the new AIR Kawasaki Team (ie the Anglo Irish Racing Kawasaki Team).
This season the AIR Kawasaki Team intend running the bike at the the following events: the North West 200, the Isle of Man TT, the Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod, [censored] of the North, Scarborough Gold Cup and a number of national meetings in Ireland. If there are any businesses interested in assisting the team with sponsorship please contact Billy on 0161 370 1575.
