Hi, The bike shop was owned by JOHNNY BERRY.   If you Google Johnny Berry there is a good article all about the business plus photos of the shop under the heading of Classic lightweights UK

My Grandparents owned the Newsagents & tobacconists further along Wilmslow Road at #201

Just found this group we lived on Hancock Street (Parker’s) my uncle was Brian Pound, had several cousins on the same street, the Walkers and the Hughes, be good to find out if anyone on here remembers us. Me and my 3 younger brothers went to Heald Place before moving to Moss Side on the new council estate and then to Birley High.

Hi maggi
My cousins were Dawn and Mark Dutton. They lived on the right hand side as you looked up from Walmer St.They will be early 50s in age now.
There was also that pub on the corner of your street was it the Queens or the Vic.
You're right the pub at the other end was the Osbourne I think the streets there were called Nelson and Victory St.
Those houses around the Osbourne were lovely old cottages with gardens until they were demolished.
Opposite the Osbourne was Trinity house which is associated with Platt Church it's still there today.
We'll carry on the memories in the next post.

Thanks maggi for reminding me about Grundys I had completely forgot about it.

I know the chip shop you mean but I was talking about one on Claremont Rd between Heald Grove and the Lord Lyon Pub.There was a small group of shops there barber's and laundrete.

Yes I think you're right MECCA used to be a billiard hall.It was just to the right of Grandale St on Wilmslow Rd.

That picture of Johnny Berrys on an earlier post was HAMESS next door but one a bakers, can you remember?

My friend is called Dolores Puro and in the 60’s/70’s she ran a restaurant with her husband called Casa España, 100, Wilmslow Rd, Rusholme. Does this jog anyone’s memory? 🙏🙏🙏🇪🇸🇪🇸
