What I want to know is why such a long time before calling for "help" by the ones so called assaulted?
The people named have been well known figures\
for most of their lives, so why leave the accusations
after such a long while...     
 OK I believe these things happened but what I cant
understand is the "victims" have waited untill in some cases the accused is earning big money and is hoping
for a good gold handout...In fact some books you read
can tell you how to fabricate stories of sex/kidnap and
even murder, who knows how much is real remembered
or just a way of getting as kick.
\If we women look back I daresay we could remember
that accidental breast touched, bottom patted, longer
hug than was necessary, do we now turn and accuse our uncles, grandads, fathers or accept  that a lot of
water has passed under
 the bridge and maybe even our memories could be
wrong, wrong time, wrong person wrong place??

Some of the incidents were reported to the police at the time but the police took no action, possibly due to the perpetrators being famous, especially in the Cyril Smith case, and individual cases needed more evidence.
 
Now so many accusations against the same person by people who don't know each other has made the police take action.
 
I do think the word interviewed (by police) should be used instead of 'arrested' (by police)

I think there's definitely a lot of jumping on the bandwagon goes on when people see the chance of a few quid, but for a lot of abuse victims twenty years and more ago, there was nobody to tell.    Awareness of abuse was very low, there was no established system for handling it, and nobody believed "decent people" did it.   Parents were more likely to punish children for lying or just bury the issue to avoid social embarrassment than to take action.
