Is it time local council pay was set by the government or an independent body based on size and population of a borough?

To long the councils cut services and plead poverty , they put up council tax with out a second thought to those who have to pay it.

But in the blink of an eye they can give them selves almost half a million a year salaries.

Its nothing more than legalised theft from the public, corruption in the uk is rampant its just legalised.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask, why do we stand for it. Have the meek battered us into submission?

I suggest you two try and become councillors or persuade people who you know to be  worthy of such a position, and have them vote against all this profligacy

I understand it had to be removed, I like this place because of the level of decency. My ex wife muscly no but tough. On big jobs I would say Rome wasn't built in a day, her rapid response was it would of been if I was in charge, and it probably would of been too!    LOL

It's nice to be free though, footloose and fancy free and the song 'I want to break free'  O0
gracious I'm way off topic

I'm not under Manchester council now, I was, but the boundaries changed in 1993 - the council tax is still much higher than Trafford but as someone pointed out nothing will change as people still vote for who their forefathers voted for - it would be who gives the best deal for me - there isn't any sort of independent body for them to be accountable to is there?

I like off topic  ;) .........I agree with you voting the same as our for-fathers, it's like having to support a particular football team. Knowledge is power I believe the electret have no excuse for ignorance these days. Wise up and vote accordingly. Celeste and C.C. should become the next coalition I think one party politics are over in the UK.......... O0 . I'm passing on the attachments for a while :(

Celeste I don't know about the people you come across in your life but, the people I do so often appear to have strong views on so many social ills. When asked which party is closest to there views, or to get out there and speak your mind, sorry to say most or ignorant or plain lazy.
At best I have average intelligence ( and that's being generous  ) if I can keep broadly up to speed so can most of the public. And yet we never reach a 50% turn out come elections, I think that is terrible reflection on our society.    I can bang on can't I?  :-\
