I wondered why so many children were at the church this morning, and then someone explained why

I wonder how they would fare if they had to take their own exams - on their own subjects of course

They've been churning out 10% or more  illiterate pupils every year for donkeys years.  A private business/industry with that high a failure rate would've collapsed virtually from day one.

Education...taxpayers paying pampered wimps to churn out thickos. Laughable.

Not much point though is there when teachers are going on strike at the drop of a hat. People in private sector have had to bite the bullet to an extent, and so should those pampered fools. After all, we are paying their bloated wages and pensions and their 'jobs' are a doddle. They aint paying those of private sector workers.

Not having children at school I am a bit out of touch, what are they asking for or are they just protecting their pensions which seems fair? :-\

According to the beeb website it says "action is in protest at the introduction of more performance-related pay, changes to teachers' pensions with higher contributions, and later retirement and increased workload."

Au contraire  ;)   But the petty stuff  they get 'worked up' about defies belief, and merely reinforces peoples perceptions of them as fragile prima donna wimps with easy peasy jobs.

Dear me wyhtch , I find your correct on a lot of things but you don't  half go on mate. :P

Take chill pill pal .

As for teachers they have been rewarded and rewarded every year but with out having to improve. In fact the profession really does need a shake up.

Starting with whom is selected to be a teacher in the uk, any one with just basic qualifications can go into teaching , other countries only select from the top 10 percent there teachers.

That's something that need to be looked at, as for free schools they don't even have to have qualified teachers, so you could end up being taught physics by the janitor.

That's the problem with GOVE he wants higher standards at the same time he encourages lowering them.

GOVE has one plan and that's to privatise the education system , introducing free schools , academy's and now the idea of community funded schools.

It's all a bid to break the unions grip of the class rooms.
Once they achieve this they will introduce some sort of privately run schools , group 4 security would run the playgrounds , whs smith would run the English lessons , home economics would be taken in tesco, sex education at the Ann summers shop.

That's the plan GOVE wants that's the future
