Mr Lloyd probably realises its getting close to riot season and thus requires a deputy to share the burden of doing the telly interviews.

Or he's doing what Labour do best... egotistic empire building and stuffing it with pointless non-jobs at taxpayers expense.

Don't like the idea of politics and policing eating at the same trough, your perception of the riot season is uncanny I sense the same.........

I don't like the idea either. Politicians should butt out.  Policing requires experience and a certain 'nous'. Would prefer a Chief Constable keeping em peeled on crime and maintaining the  peace and all that.

Remember that Chief Constable from a while back James Anderson?  I recall he was always good for dropping a clanger and making the odd gaffe.

Got vague memories of him popping up in newspapers rambling on about stuff,   might go take a google and refresh memory.  Still, a 'proper copper' I suppose. What do politicians know about the nitty gritty of policing? zilch.  Let's be having an experienced Chief Constable who knows the score instead of politicians

I went off the police when I was stitched up by Kent police. They sent the boys to arrest me heavy handed, on suspicion of driving to Spain to settle an old grievance with a guy in Marbella.
They couldn't make it stick, so they had me for carrying a loaded fire arm. Not so, I had an unloaded fire arm locked in a steel case in my car.............Nice thing ( and only thing ) to have on your record init ?

I wouldn't trust some plod to tell me the correct time  if I asked them. And look at the state of some of them.Bring back the old requirements...if you aint 6ft and in shape you aint getting in. Times were when the public could expect a few burly streetwise dudes to roll up and deal with stuff. Nowadays its a midget wimp and a puny woman.  It used to be a Force, not a 'service'.

every where you look the country's getting feminized. Mamby  pamby everything. I guess it's just me being so old school. But when it hits the fan big time it's usually old school who's left to sort it out.

Yip, peecee fascists feminising stuff, trashing everything and putting the wrong people in the wrong jobs.

Riots of  years ago, the plod were straight in there cracking skulls, getting stuck in, and keeping the peace. Proper coppers.

Recent riots,  bunch of midgets, wimps and women in Robocop costumes doing nothing for hours/days, too scared to get stuck in and get it sorted whilst the rioters get a free run to cause chaos.   Shameful.

I cant recall if I was in the UK at the time but watching those riots of a couple of years ago on the telly was embarrassing. Why weren't the plod getting stuck in? Whats with all the plonking about? Go on..get in there, youre supposed to be a Force!! If I was in the UK I'd feel like going into town and telling em '[censored]..give me a truncheon and I'll get stuck in and get it sorted'  It was cringeworthy watching that shambles of a 'service' do nothing.  Made the country look an international laughing stock.

It's a sad state of affairs when, because of this peecee garbage, the plod haven't got enough coppers with the 'right stuff' to get in there and kick butt.

I hope they do keep a  few streetwise burly dudes handy. Midgets and wimps aren't much use.
