I can imagine someone stealing a chihuahua  because a child wanted one badly, but can't imagine a child wanting a pug but I may be wrong

I think it's all about money also

I am not a lover of Pugs, I think they are quite ugly. My niece was given a black Pug pup for Christmas and she absolutely idolises it.
We are all lying in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

I think my ideas would make it very difficult for thieves and dodgy puppy farms being able to operate.
As some one said I microchip can be ripped out and a tattoo can away.
But as soon as a dog has ears missing and scars all over it , it soon becomes a unsellable to a theif and stands out to any passing law abiding citizen.
You will never eliminate crime but you can take steps to reduce it.

I didn't realise that stolen dogs was such a crime "hotspot".

We don't appear to be able to stop dogs trying to eat children so maybe we can stop them being stolen.

Same problem with both those issues.  Some creatures just have nasty natures.  Can't fix problem dogs; can't fix the sort of scum willing to take a family pet.  All you can ever do is guard against risks.   :-\

Frank the pug found:

A 'stolen' pug has been reunited with his 'elated' owner nearly three weeks after being snatched from a supermarket carpark.

He is safe and well after being found in Accrington yesterday.  Frantic owner Philip Ludlam mounted a huge search for his beloved pedigree pet after he vanished from a van outside the Trafford Centre on Friday Feb ruary 21st.

Frank was found after a tip-off sparked a Facebook campaign to bring him home.  Someone reported there was a pug in the area fitting Frank's description.  He was handed over by a woman who is believed to have brought him from whoever stole him.  His identity has been verified by the microchip.

His owner thanks everyone for their help in finding the dog.

How lovely for them both.  Let's hope the thief is also found and identified....
