Perhaps you could make certain they will go to a charity shop then at least they will benefit others. Don`t let hem get skipped because how many times do we see on programmes that things get taken out of skips and get sold for decent sums?
It seems sad on any morning to contemplate things like this but better to do it and  so do some good for others. That`s quite a comforting thought really.
Hope you feel a bit cheerier now.
My good friend bought some real quality, practically new  shoes from our local Sue Rider shop last Sunday. This Sunday she wore them to church but the heels disintegrated into a black dust. On Monday she went back with them but said she did not want a refund  it was a charity shop. I said "It`s not like a Sue Rider`s shop to not fully check incoming stock" my Ifriend said "I did not get them from Sue Rider`s"--I said "You did I was with you"---------
" Oh Heck , I took them back to the Hospice shop!!!!" Its a good job she did not accept the refund! You can`t take her anywhere.! She`s a smashing friend, always good for a laugh.

I would never accept a refund from a charity shop, seems very churlish, they always try to give me a receipt and I always say no thanks

btw the YMCA shop in Altrincham has opened at last O0
